Andy Mitchell Appointed Technical Director at Larne
- Mitchell was previously in charge of the club's Under-18's
- He first joined Larne in January 2020 as a member of the first team squad
Football Careers’ client Andy Mitchell has been appointed as Larne’s new Technical Director. The role sees Mitchell given more responsibility at a club he joined in January 2020 as a player. He then undertook the Head Coach role for Larne’s under-18’s setup.
Last season was a historic one for Mitchell’s under-18’s – becoming just the second team in Larne’s history to win Northern Ireland’s Harry Cavan Youth Cup, defeating North Belfast side Crusaders 2-1 in the final.
His promotion to the role of Technical Director will see Mitchell oversee the continued development of players in the club’s Professional Development Phase (U18 to U20 Scolarship), Youth Development Phase (U13-16 NIFL/National League), Foundation Development Phase (U6-U12) and SBYL sides.
Whilst speaking to Larne’s official media channels, Mitchell had this to say about his new role:
“I am excited about this new chapter for me as the Technical director of the club. The opportunity to develop the best young talent in Northern Ireland is incredibly exciting, and I am ready to make a lasting impact.
With our facilities and elite infrastructure already in place I firmly believe our academy has everything it needs to become one of the very best on the island in developing people and players.
By maximising the potential of every player, we will aim produce the next generation of talent who will not only excel for Larne Football Club in Northern Ireland, but across UK and Europe.
My relationship with our ownership and board, Niall Curneen, Tiernan Lynch and the support coaching staff is already very strong and I will look to use that to maximise the pathway from the academy to the first team. I am grateful for this opportunity and truly excited for the bright future ahead.”
Football Careers are delighted for Andy and wish him and Larne continued success in the future.
